Cadet passed all entrance, physical and mental exams. Cadet chose Security/Tactical and Command classes. Cadet showed leadership qualities early in his studies. He offered tutoring to struggling classmates. Class grades showed promise and improvement. Cadet was amongst the top of his classes, according to his instructors. At no time did the cadet receive a disciplinary warning. By year 3, Cadet Ahiga was among several cadets for ship training. Cadet Ahiga was posted to USS Venture and assigned to security/tactical section. Captain Rogers reported that he was very impressed with the Cadet and hoped that when he graduates, he'll select the Venture as his first position. After flight courses, Cadet Ahiga graduated and was commissioned Ensign. At age 21, he selected the USS Majestic, who needed a security/tactical officer, as his first assignment. 2370. Captain Rogers recorded that Ensign Ahiga was one of the hardest working ensigns he'd had seen in a long time. Ahiga worked double shifts when he had to. The Majestic was tasked with patrolling the Cardassian/Bajorian border. But that all changed. Ahiga was commissioned Lieutenant JG in 2371. At the start of 2373, he was commissioned a Lieutenant. 2373. The day the Dominion fleet came through the Bajorian wormhole. War. While on patrol of the Cardassian border, the Majestic was attacked by Jem Hadar and Cardassian ships. She was outgunned. Several attacks weakened the ship's shields. The Majestic phasers and torpedoes did little damage. Causalities continued to mount. Rogers ordered Ahiga to take a runabout and save as many as he could fit inside the runabout. Lieutenant Ahiga wanted to argue, but he knew that when the captain made up his mind, there was nothing that would change his mind. As he walked to the turbolift, the captain called him back. "Lieutenant Ahiga. As the captain of this ship, I hereby promote you to Lieutenant Commander. Congratulations." Rogers shook his hand and gave him a recording of the orders. "Good luck." Ahiag nodded the hurried to the TL and headed to the hanger deck. He prepped the one remaining working runabout, he had 40 people on the ship, overcrowded? yes. Rogers ordered the helmsman to set a course away from the Jem Hadar ships and maximum speed. With the enemy force following them, Rogers ordered full impulse, and when the ship dropped out of warp, Ahiga broke through the bay doors and plotted a course to an asteroid field. The enemy fleet closed in on the Majestic. The old girl kept firing for as long as they could. Ahiga plotted a course to Deep Space 9 and maximum warp. He saw the Majestic exploded, the captain activated the self-destruct program. The Majestic took several enemy ships with her. It took 3 days to make it to Federation space, dodging enemy ships the whole way. LtCdr Ahiga spent 1 year in rehab for his injuries, and 2 years doing post-grad work at the Academy before being assigned to the USS Ithaca as Second Officer. |
